Zen Meditation Overview

Zazen is the heart of Zen practice. Many regard Zazen as "sitting meditation", however Zazen is not tied to any particular form. Rather, it is the way of life itself. Perhaps the most accurate description of the word Zazen, is "no separation". It is this no separation that we all seek. Regardless of whether we realize it or not. All our strivings and actions revolve around not wanting to feel separate from our life. The fact is, we are never separate from our life, however because we have more faith in our own expectations for life rather than having faith in life as it is, we continue to suffer. Right zen practice brings about a shift in this paradigm.

Through right practice of Zazen, our expectation mind is not followed. It is our expectation mind that is not content with the way things are, and it is the habitual act of following our expectation mind which is precicely what makes us not accept the very basic pervasive beauty which our life actually is.

There is not much more to speak about past this. Hence the unnecessary mystery of Zen. What's left is only what we experience through practice. Which is only and always pure despite our own expectations. Many try to bring Zen down to a conceptual level, however once one follows conceptual thought delusion is only persisted. There are no conceptual places to rest, they never can reach the birds flying in the sky and fish swimming in water.
